Shared Ownership

Shared Ownership is a way of buying your home with less upfront costs - for example, there’s usually a smaller deposit.
You buy a ‘share’ of your home, for example 25%, and rent the rest from a housing association. In this case, it’s Peaks & Plains Housing Trust.
You can increase the ‘share’ of the home you buy through a process called ‘staircasing’.

you’re a first-time buyer
you used to own a home but can’t afford to buy one now
you’re an existing shared owner
